Daniel & Johnny
Daniel contacted me through IG dms about his elopement/small-intimate-wedding in Brooklyn and I straight up told him: “I HAVE to document your wedding!” The way he was describing the vibes of the day, I knew I needed this in my life Lol.
Daniel and Johnny lived in Mexico City but wanted to get married in NYC because they’ve always loved and been fascinated with the city. They wanted the magical views of the New York City skyline as the backdrop for their wedding day, and to treat their friends and family to a destination wedding in one of the greatest cities in the world.
Weeks before the wedding, we had discussed doing a pre-wedding photoshoot to get some dope portraits on the Brooklyn Bridge without being constrained or hurried by the wedding day timeline. We met up just before sunrise, which is the only way to get good pictures on the bridge before it’s covered with tourists. The morning could not have gone better, it felt like we had the bridge and Dumbo to ourselves.
The next day was the wedding, which was also an amazing day! There was a bit of an issue with the venue on the day of that included a last-minute venue switch, but Daniel and Johnny did not let that stop celebrating with their friends and family whom all flew in from Mexico City also.
So while the coordinator and other vendors were moving the entire wedding to the new venue space, Daniel and Johnny and their guests waited it out at a nearby restaurant in Dumbo. Beer, champagne, and appetizers were ordered as everyone socialized. We then got the word that new space was ready, get moved the group there, dinner was waiting for everyone which was then followed by the ceremony.
The ceremony was really special, they pretty much had the officiant be an MC as friends and family all came up and gave a toast to the couple. There were so so many tears. Then it was Daniel and Johnny’s turn as they read their vows to each other, followed by many more tears and then it was official, they were married!
I was so honored to have been a part of this day! No wedding makes me smile more than when there are big or small obstacles on the day of but the couple does not let that affect them because the most important reason why we’re all there is still happening, they are still getting married, and everything else is extra.
